Story.  Lakers sign troubled star in J.R Rider. By George Wang. The current NBA champions LA Lakers have signed much maligned free agent J.R Rider. Rider was cut by the Atlanta Hawks late last season due to his disruptive behavior off the court and his negative influence in the locker room. Rider said in the official press conference held by the Lakers that " he was excited to come here and that he has been a Laker fan all his life." The arrival of Rider, a former No.5 overall pick by the Minnesota Timberwolves almost certainly spells the end for Glen Rice's career in Los Angeles.

Isaiah Rider is moving from being an unemployed  player to one of the newest members of the current NBA champions. Rider is also expected to play a big part for the Lakers in the new season. He will  undoubtedly start at the small forward position in place of the departed Glen Rice. There has been doubts over his ability to fit into the triangle offense that the Lakers employ under Phil Jackson. Rick Fox will be the backup in case Rider does not fit in.

Story.  Rocket Man Mo. By George Wang. The forgotten man in this off season's frantic player movements has been former Clippers forward Maurice Taylor. But no longer, the fourth year player has finally been snapped up by the Houston Rockets to a one year free agent deal to the $2.2m salary cap exception. Taylor will most likely start at power forward, replacing the retired Charles Barlkey. The 14th overall pick in the 1997 draft has improved his output each year he has been in the league and figures to continue that trend with the Rockets.

After Vowing to never play for the LA Cippers ever again, Maurice Taylor has got his wish by signing as a free agent with the Houston Rockets. A potent scorer when healthy, Taylor has bee questioned in the past about his defensive ability and rebounding intensity. Playing in a conference with the likes of Karl Malone and Chris Webber will surely test his weaknesses to the fullest.

Story.  Laettner Swaps Homes With Ceballos. By George Wang. Former Detroit Power forward Christian Laettner has been dealt to the Dallas Mavericks for small forward Cedric Ceballos, the deal completes a number of offseason moves that Dallas have made to stengthen their roster including the aquisition of point guard Howard Eisley. Laettner joins Dirk Nowitzki and Shawn Bradley to form a new look Dallas frontcourt.

Former Duke star Christian Laettner is looking for a new start with the Dallas Mavericks after he has seen his skills diminish year by year in his three year stint with the Detroit pistons. The Former 3rd overall pick in the NBA draft will add much needed veteran prescence and front court passing to a talented but inexperienced Dallas frontcourt.

Story.  Grant For kemp For gatling! Haha. By George Wang. It is now official. Grant has gone to the Miami Heat for next season. The Heat receive Grant, while the other two parties in the trade, Cleveland will get Clarence Weatherspoon, Chris Gatling, Gary Grant and a conditional first round draft pick in either 2001 or 2002. Portland will receive the much maligned Shawn Kemp.

Miami and Portland seem to be the big winners here, both getting their men in Brian Grant and Shawn Kemp. But the question needs to be asked, can Grant stay healthy for an entire season? And can Kemp overcome his weight and offcourt problems to dominate again? Only time will tell.

Story.  Portland Adds More Muscle Up Front. By George Wang. Days after aquiring Shawn Kemp in a three way trade, the Portland Trailblazers have dealt Jermaine O'Neal and joe Kleine to Indiana for All Star power forward Dale Davis. Davis who had his best statistical year in 2000 will join an already crowded front court currently occupied by Rasheed Wallace, Arvidas Sabonis, Shawn Kemp and Detlef Schrempf.

Dale Davis, after helping the Indiana Pacers to the NBA finals last year. Only to fall to the lakers is hoping to erase those memories and go one step further with the revamped Portland Trailblazers.
